He did. He's always sending pictures and packages from Japan. Mostly for my mother's sake, but my sister gets really excited to see them now too.

Actually, a lot of the recipes I have are Japanese thanks to my mother. Although there are a few from my grandmother on my father's side-- most of the Chinese dishes I make I've learned myself from shows and books back when I lived there.

That's great! The packages sound nice too. I haven't been back to Japan since we took a trip when I was 13? Sometimes we get packages from our relatives back home since we can't really make it to a lot of things anymore.

It's nice, since my sister's never been there. I was born there, but we moved back to China shortly after. I was too young to really remember much. But it's still nice to have that connection. My grandfather still lives in Tokyo so ideally I'd like to go visit him with Makoto in the near future.

I have been learning the difference between the foods I make between the foods I eat when I'm working. Now it makes me want to make more and to see what kind of different foods are out there. How many different foods have you tried?
Honestly, I haven't given it a lot of thought. But I've had an opportunity to taste a lot of different foods through different business meetings and such. I don't have nearly as much variety at home.
